About me
Hi! I’m Devati Mallick, and here’s something about me! I’m a Sommelier, Wine Consultant, Educator and independent wine writer, all rolled up into one person! #DrinkwithD started as an Instagram hashtag in 2018 to document my wine shenanigans. Back then I had no idea what an incredible journey it would take me on and lead to this day!
Today, I have managed to build it into a wine and brand consulting firm that aims to connect with wine lovers from around the world. Be it hospitality professionals, entrepreneurs, wine connoisseurs or wine explorers, there’s something for each one of you to discover here!
Welcome, to my journey.
This is where it all began.
I’ve worked as a hospitality professional since 2012, learning the ropes of the food and beverage industry at The Oberoi Group of Hotels & Resorts. This is where I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, from the prestigious Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development.
Following my training, I worked as the Bar and Beverage Manager at The Oberoi in Bengaluru, a city that I love and call home. Having closely seen bar operations for a long time – somewhere along the way I caught the ‘wine bug’!
2018 was a defining year for me..
I received the Court of Master Sommeliers‘ Introductory certificate and won the coveted Indian Sommelier Championship. Being the first woman to do so in the event’s 11-year history – I was thrilled!
I honed my wine expertise while leading my bar team and spearheaded wine dinners and tastings at the hotel. But the wine adventure had only just begun.
I became a Certified Sommelier in 2020 after clearing the second level of the Court of Master Sommeliers exam. This was a huge accomplishment for me! Looking back, I still get the same rush of adrenaline now!
From Hospitality to the Wine Trade.
Eventually, I made the switch from hospitality to the beverage trade. For the next few years, I worked as the Brand Head for KRSMA Estates wines, one of India’s most prestigious boutique wineries.
While at KRSMA, I headed the wine sales, digital marketing, training programmes, launches, promotions and wine events. It was an exhilarating journey that brought me so close to incorporating wine into my everyday work routine. Every year, witnessing the harvest and winemaking seasons at the KRSMA vineyards were probably the best experiences!
A year of big decisions.

At the heart of all I do is a very simple fact, how I love uncovering the magic behind one of the most fascinating drinks – wine, and communicating all the incredible things around wine to everyday wine drinkers.
Now, I aim to inspire people to live the ‘wine life’ without feeling overwhelmed, help wine businesses in developing sales strategies and growing their online presence, train young minds in the hospitality biz on wines, and do all of this while continuing to discover and sip some fabulous wines!
